Qigong for Spinal Flexibility and Fluidity
Service Description
Our spine is the foundation of our energy and movement. It’s our “inner pillar,” supporting our health, posture, and overall well-being. However, modern life and excessive “sitting” can often increase the possibility of us having painful tension and tightness in our backs. This may cause us to have a misaligned spine; when this happens it can drain our vitality, affect our mood, and limit our mobility. Therefore, for the first part of our Qi Gong class, we will be focused on movements and stretches to help us improve our spinal alignment, flexibility, and strength. We will explore specific QiGong flows that release tension, reduce pain, increase mobility, revitalize our spine, and overall support a healthy posture. In the next part of our class, we will engage in Spring Flows that support our “wood element.” We will focus on exercises for our liver/gallbladder meridians to cultivate resilience, compassion, and kindness, while dispelling suppressed anger and frustrations. This section will include a new “Dragon flow” to support our ability to grow and take action in life. These movements will help us if we are feeling stuck or experiencing agitation in life. Dragon flows are also great to boost your inspiration and access your inner vision. We will finish class with a series of exercises to boost our eye vitality. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the eyes are also an organ connected to the wood element, and Spring is a wonderful time to boost our eye health. BRING A YOGA MAT IF YOU HAVE ONE! Please wear comfortable clothing for movement, and bring a water bottle.
