Service Description

Qigong to Recharge your Energetic Batteries ~ In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the kidneys are considered the “energetic batteries” of the body. The kidneys store our “jing” or “life essence” and are the key to a long and healthy life. The kidneys regulate our body fluids, filter the blood, and store our vital life force energy (our Qi). Energetically, the kidneys are where we store our unique talents, willpower, and wisdom. The kidneys are associated with the “Water Element” and the season of Winter. Characterized by tranquility & fluidity, the energy of water is both soft and yielding, but also incredibly powerful. In our class, we will aim to go with “the flow of life,” instead of struggling against it. We will utilize the Qigong principles of dynamic relaxation and effortless flow to embody the water element in our movements. If you feel tired and would like to have more energy and vitality, I hope you will join us for this complete Qigong flow routine which will help us to purify and nourish our kidney and bladder meridians and restore us to a state of vitality which is the key to our health and longevity. Taoist Wisdom: One of the unique principles of Taoist wisdom is that emotions are not stored in the mind, they are stored in the organs and tissues of our body. In particular, the emotions of “fear” and “fright” are stored in the kidneys. As we work with the kidneys in this season's routines, we will be naturally transforming fear into trust and tranquility. As a result of this transformation, the emotional virtue or spirit of the kidneys that arises is zhi, meaning willpower. When our willpower is in a state of optimal balance we have a natural sense of confidence that we project into the world to promote peace and connection. More About Qigong: Qigong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining physical, mental, and emotional health. Breathing is slow, long, and deep, and movements are gentle and smooth, aimed for relaxation. No previous experience is required, and movements can be modified for the individual participant.
